738 polling stations ready to go

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 738 polling stations are ready to go with the 14th General Election due tomorrow.

A survey carried out at some of the schools that would function as polling stations here showed that school lessons continued as usual during the morning.

When contacted, a representative from the Election Commission said that they were making all the final preparations at the polling stations today.

Meanwhile, Sabah Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman would be casting his vote at SK Rancangan Sg Manila in Sandakan, while his three Deputy Chief Ministers, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin and Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah would be casting their votes at SK Pekan in Tambunan, SMK Tansau in Petagas and Tanjung Papat, Sandakan.

There are 1,117,337 registered voters in Sabah, out of which 24,187 were early voters. The numbers of postal voters were not knowns as of the present time of writing as the Election Commission have yet to receive the exact figures from the respective Returning Officers.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, who is the Deputy President of Parti Bersatu Sabah, would be casting his vote at SMK Kota Marudu.

He expressed that he is confident in retaining P168 Kota Marudu and N5 Tandek and as a bonus, recapture N.4 Matunggong for Barisan Nasional (BN) tomorrow.

He attributed this to the support and collaboration from all component parties in there – UMNO, UPKO, PBRS,MCA and LDP.

Dr Maximus also urged voters to go out early and vote because their vote counts.

He said this at the presentation of PANTAS (Sabah Native Land Services) Land Title for Mukim Marak Parak at Dewan Sagunting, Kampung Marak Parak at Kota Marudu.

And newbie in the field, Ceasar Mandela Malakun, who is BN’s candidate for the Penampang parliamentary seat, would be casting his vote at SK St Aloysius, Limbanak at 8am.
