KOTA KINABALU: The heads of five of Parti Warisan Sabah’s (Warisan) branches in Tanjung Aru have joined Barisan Nasional (BN) through UPKO.

Former Warisan Kampung Tanjung Aru branch chief Amit Budin said the other branches are Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru. Tanjung Aru Baru Laut, Kampung Tanjung Aru Selatan Kampung Tanjung Aru Cable and Kampung Tanjung Aru Darat.

Amit said they are joined by 282 of Warisan members. He cited being sidelined by the party’s leadership among reasons why they left Warisan.

“We opted to join Upko and we throw our support to BN’s candidate in Putatan, Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh and Tanjung Aru Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah. Datuk Dr Marcus is no stranger to me as I was with Umno Kota Kinabalu before I joined Warisan in 2016.

“He is a down to earth person who works hard at serving the rakyat and tries to resolve their problems,” said Amit on Monday night.

He also alleged that Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal had promised them that the Chief Coordinator for Tanjung Aru would be nominated as the party’s candidate this 14th general election but sadly it did not happen.
