MIRI: The construction of the RM3.7-million Miri Waterfront beautification project near Pullman Hotel here is progressing well and is expected to complete soon.

A check at the site yesterday found the four-storey-high steel seahorse statue has already been installed on a concrete platform by the riverbank facing the South China Sea.

According to the project detail, work on the beautification project started on June 15 last year.

It is part of the RM10 million worth of community and tourism projects approved by the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem during the 10th anniversary of Miri City in 2015.

Mayor Adam Yii said they were looking forward to the completion of the project, which would become a new landmark in the city.

Apart from the waterfront project, there are five other community and tourism projects included under the RM10 million allocation.

They are the green community hub, Miri waterfront and jetty, upgrading of handicraft centre, construction of a waterfront at Kampung Pengkalan Lutong, tourism forum, and MCC Apps and information communication technology (ICT).
