KOTA KINABALU: All five UPKO assemblymen are with the party in its decision to forge ties with the Warisan-led Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Sabah, revealed UPKO acting president Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.

He told the press this during a press conference held with Ewon Benedick (Kadamaian) and Datuk Abidin Madingkir (Paginatan) at Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal’s Golf View home here this evening.

Datuk Bobbey Ah Fan Suan (Nabawan), Datuk Masiung Banah (Kuamut) and Datuk Limus Jury (Kuala Penyu) were not in sight during that time.

“We have spoken to them. Two of them are very positive about it, one of them (of the two) eagerly trying to get out of certain place but can’t get out,” disclosed Madius.

“Actually, all of them want to come, all our five state assemblymen because we have said this is the supreme council decision.

“This is not my decision, and they should abide by the supreme council’s decision. They should never entertain the idea of a so-called forming a party, the party is here,” he added.

According to Ewon and Madingkir, they both met the Head of State (TYT) and signed an initial declaration yesterday morning before the UPKO supreme council had made it decision about supporting WARISAN.

“In the afternoon, the decision of the supreme council was relayed to me and as a party member I have to hold on to the party’s decision,” said Ewon.

“Before the swearing in ceremony was held yesterday, I have met with the TYT to inform about my latest stance yesterday and have stated that I am with my party in this decision.

“The TYT have acknowledged my stance and I think that was the reason behind the delay of the ceremony yesterday,” he shared with the press.

“I think what is important is that the party has made its decision to join WARISAN to form the government so as a party man, I have to abide the party’s decision,” added Abidin.
