KOTA KINABALU: Musa and Shafie should meet to resolve the current impasse, said SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee.

“In the interests of Sabah and people, Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman and Parti Warisan president Datuk Shafie Apdal should meet as good leaders and resolve the current impasse.

“The growing street protests (near Padang Merdeka) for a second night running is bad for Sabahan harmony and creating an atmosphere of fear among the people there, some of whom are tourists. At the same time, a potential constitutional crisis over the appointment of Chief Minister due to cross overs of assemblymen is another set back for Sabah’s image as a stable democracy.

“The solution to the current impasse can be a political solution instead of going to the courts which will further divide our people as well as cause uncertainties in the meantime. At the same time, street protests is not the culture of Sabahans. Street protests are unwanted style imported from Malaya. Leaders of all parties should call on their supporters not to take to the streets.,” he said in a statement today.
