KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is prepared to work with any political party which is sincere and committed to serve the rakyat, especially the people of Sabah.

As a Sabah-based party, LDP president Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang said the party would continue to pursue the restoration of Sabah rights as provided under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and is willing to work with any party that has the same objective.

“We are not siding anyone in the political divide.

“We are going to chart our own course,” he said in a press conference after an emergency Supreme Council meeting on Friday night.

Teo has announced that the party was pulling out from Barisan Nasional (BN) in a statement issued Thursday afternoon. The meeting on Thursday night was held to endorse and formalize the decision.

He said the party has accepted the fact that LDP was defeated in all the four state and only parliamentary seats its candidates contested under BN.

“We accept the decision of the people.

“We would like to thank all voters who have given their trust in us by casting their votes in favour to us.”

Teo said it was time for the party to review its position because the voters have spoken through their votes in the 14th General Election (GE14).
