KUALA LUMPUR: The status of the applications for entry into the Foundation Studies, Certificate and Diploma programmes for the 2018/2019 session of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates will be announced from noon on May 21.

The Higher Education Ministry, in a statement issued yesterday, said applicants can check the status of their applications via the hotline 03-8870 8200, the UPUPocket channel, websites of selected public universities, the UPU website, and via the short messaging system (SMS) to 15888.

“The successful applicants will get an offer letter issued by the public universities, polytechnics, community colleges and the public skills training institutes (ILKA),” said the statement.

It also stated that the offer of places for the 2018/2019 academic session was final and any application for a transfer would not be permitted.

Applicants who failed to gain entry into the public universities and premier polytechnics can submit their appeals at the website http:/upu.mohe.gov.my within five working days beginning May 21 (noon) until May 25 (11.59pm).

In the case of conventional or metro polytechnics, community colleges and ILKA, appeals can be made directly to the agencies concerned by submitting the appeal applications.

The outcome of the appeals are subject to the vacant places offered by the programme of studies after the registration of new students has been completed, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Student Intake Management Division of the Department of Higher Education will open a consultation service counter at the ministry building in Putrajaya to provide assistance for the admission applications.

The counter will be open from 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday between May 21 and June 13, the statement said. — Bernama
