KUCHING: Chinese community leaders will continue to monitor the changes that come along with the change of government, said Chinese Community Leaders Association Kuching chairman Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi.

He said this is to ensure that the Pakatan Harapan federal government will honour and implement its manifesto.

“We must make sure that the manifesto will benefit the people, especially the Chinese community here,” he said at the association’s annual general meeting yesterday.

Tan added that the Chinese community leaders would continue to support and seek assistance from the state government in matters related to the Chinese community.

Thus, he reminded the community leaders to persevere in serving the people and to carry out their duties in their respective areas.

The annual general meeting was attended by some 50 members.

The meeting reported on activities held up to May this year like flood awareness, road safety campaign, rabies briefing, free Chinese physician consultation. The committee recently held a welcoming dinner for the new Kuching Resident Ismail Mohamad Hanisi.
