KOTA KINABALU: Petrofiq Sdn Bhd is set to salvage the long abandoned Star City Mall project, renewing the hopes of over 200 affected buyers.
The Brunei-originating company has been established in Sabah for six years and is involved in development, construction and oil and gas.
Its notable projects in Kota Kinabalu include the sky bridge connecting Asia City to Oceanus Waterfront Mall with links to Centre Point and Warisan Square, as well as the Aeropod flyover project.
The proposed rehabilitation plan for Star City involves erecting a 16-storey building consisting a shopping mall, a 200-room hotel, 200-room serviced apartments, office space, international ice skating rink and car parks.
Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Jimmy Wong, Kota Kinabalu member of parliament Chan Foong Hin, Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe, and Likas assemblyman Tan Lee Fatt had a meeting with the Star City Buyers Association (Pekestar) committee led by Phillip Liew, Sabah Urban Development Corporation (SUDC) representative and project manager of Star City here today.
Wong said a majority of the buyers had agreed to the terms and conditions of the incoming developer for the latter to salvage the project.
