MIRI: A tourist from Sabah was rescued by a Medical Emergency Evacuation (MEDEVAC) team today after she fell at Camp 3 in Mount Mulu yesterday.

According to a statement from Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Station department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the tourist, a 35-year-old female climber, had fallen at Camp 3 and suffered back injuries.

“The victim met with the accident at around 6pm on Tuesday (May 29) but the helicopter could only be dispatched this morning,” he said.

Law said the victim could not move due to the injuries, prompting the Bomba to send a MEDEVAC team.

“The team departed Miri at 8am and arrived Mulu at 8.30am,” he said.

The victim was lifted into the helicopter using winching technique, and arrived at Miri Hospital at 10.04am.
