KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Aidilfitri, Puspakom Sdn Bhd (Puspakom) is offering Free Private Vehicle Inspection services until June 11.
Its chief executive officer Mohammed Shukor Ismail said in a statement yesterday that the vehicle inspections could be done from 8 am until 5 pm at all Puspakom branches throughout the country except Shah Alam, Perai, Langkawi, Pasir Gudang and Lahad Datu.
He said that through the #drivesafenoregrets campaign, vehicle owners who opt for the inspection services will be given priority and not have to wait or make an appointment, and they also do not need to have any documents.
“The inspection will cover 25 checks including smoke emission test, suspension, side slip test, checks on the top and bottom of the vehicle and brakes.”
“A report on the results of the inspection will be given to the customers after the checks are completed and can be used as reference for the vehicle owner to carry out maintenance and repairs,” he said.
He added that Puspakom also had a Mobile Inspection Unit to carry out free checks on vehicles at the Shah Alam Tesco parking area in Section 13, as well at the premises of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi on June 3 and 6 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Mohammed Shukor said the #drivesafenoregrets campaign was aimed at changing the public’s perception and increase awareness of vehicle safety aspects in ensuring that their vehicles were in the best shape.
He said the free inspection campaign during the 2017 festive season recorded almost 3,000 private vehicles, an increase of 240 per cent compared to 828 in 2012.
He added that Puspakom would extend its operations hours on June 9 (Saturday) from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at all branches throughout the country (including Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) to meet with the high demand expected during Aidilfitri.
During the campaign period, Puspakom will also organise a ‘Snap & Win’ Instagram competition where customers only need to take the free vehicle inspections and upload their photographs on Puspakom’s official Instagram account ‘puspakomontheroad’ with the hashtag #drivesafenoregrets or #puspakom_ontheroad.
