Firefighters try to free the victim’s fingers from the machine.

MIRI: A man was rushed to Miri Hospital after efforts to pull his right hand out from a food processing machine failed early yesterday.

It is said that the man is a kitchen helper at one of the premises along Jalan Kenyalang here.

According to state Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre (PGO), the Lopeng station received a distress call at 8.50am and immediately dispatched a team of eight personnel, on board one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) van, to the scene.

“Upon arrival there, the team found that the victim had his four fingers inside the inlet tube of the machine.

“Firefighters did their best to remove all fingers out from the machine but failed – prompting them to rush the victim to Miri Hospital for further action,” said the PGO.
