MIRI: Miri Melanau Association (MMA) distributed 600 packages of ‘bubur lambuk’ to patrons visiting the temporary Saberkas Commercial Centre Market here yesterday evening.

Present to hand over the goodies were member of parliament for Sibuti Lukanisman Awang Sauni, MMA president Datuk Alexander Maiyor and former Sibuti member of parliament Ahmad Lai Bujang.

Also present during the ceremony were MMA deputy president and councillor Abdullah Jaini and MMA vice-president 1 Alexius N. Munan.

According to Abdullah, the event was part of MMA’s yearly activities.

The bubur lambuk was distributed not only to the Muslim patrons but also non-Muslims buying food and cakes at the market.

It aimed to further promote the uniqueness of the Ramadan month when Muslims contribute to society by sharing food despite the fasting month.

Abdullah said MMA comprises both Muslim and Christian members who work together under one umbrella, a most unique phenomenon in Malaysia.

“We will continue this distribution of bubuk lambur from years to come to ensure that our future generation know the uniqueness of working together and how to share joy with other races,” Abdullah added.
