PKR, DAP, Amanah members hold peaceful protest, lodge report with MACC against Taib

MIRI: A group of about 150 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Baram members held a peaceful protest in front of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at the federal complex, here yesterday afternoon.

The protesters led by PKR Baram chief, Roland Engan and secretary Dennis Along were seen carrying banners, besides shouting “Bebas Rasuah” (Corruption Free), “Investigate Taib Mahmud” and urging Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to step down as the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri.

Also present were PKR Hulu Rejang chief, Abun Sui and PKR Miri youth chief, Steve Teo.

The group’s representatives later lodged a report with the MACC in Miri and handed over documents related to Taib’s alleged involvement in corruption.

No arrest was made by the police regarding the protest.

Meanwhile, Roland, in a statement, stated that PKR Baram  decided lodged an official report with the MACC against Taib to allo investigation to be conducted into his alleged involvement in corruption.
