KAPIT: The Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institute Kampung Baru and Kapit Charitable Trust Board held the ‘Jom Berambeh Raya’ at the Kampung Muhibbah hall on Monday.

Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who officiated at the event, called on Kapit folk to continue practising tolerance and cooperation.

“To maintain peace and unity in the face of the challenges of this new millennium, the importance of peace, stability, unity, and harmony must be maintained, nurtured, and practised by all,” he said.

He pointed out that without security, stability, unity and harmony, the country would not progress and grow.

“Only when there is peace, stability, harmony, tolerance, mutual understanding, and cooperation between one another, the nation is able to move forward and the people can benefit and progress,” he said.

“We are grateful to God because in our country, especially in Kapit area, that we can see the various communities including Iban, Chinese, Malay, Bidayuh, Melanau, Orang Ulu, and other minorities sitting face to face at a coffee shop table or eating together, joking in a peaceful and comfortable condition without any dispute or conflict.”
