Camp records huge turn-out at annual family day

KUCHING: Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK) Kem Penrissen recorded the largest turn-out for its family day this year with 202 guests at Dewan Bukavu yesterday.

According to the commander of Third Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Mohd Bustaman Mat Zin, the aim was to show appreciation to trainees of PPDK Kem Penrissen as well as their parents.

“Over the years, PPDK Kem Penrissen has succesfully helped children become independent and manage their daily lives better,” said Bustaman who is also the PPDK Kem Penrissen patron in his welcoming speech.

According to him, a total of 109 children (65 male and 44 females) between the ages of four and 45 are currently registered with PPDK Kem Penrissen.

He added that eighty one are trained at their centre while the others are given training in their respective homes.

Out of the figure, 20, he said are children of army personnel, 15 (retired army personnel) and 74 (civillians).

PPDK Kem Penrissen, he said was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on April 20, 2018.

Bustaman thanked the Welfare Department and other agencies for providing them with grants and sponsorship to fund their operation cost.

Also present were Stakan assemblyman Dato Sri Ali Mahmud, Field Commander East Lt Gen Datuk Stephen Mundaw and PPDK Kem Penrissen chairman Nurliza Yeo Abdullah.
