MCCCI to host free health talk on cancer

MIRI: Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) will be hosting a community health talk on July 7 at its meeting room.

Radiation Oncologist Dr Lee Khai Mun will be joining Dr Ong Sea Hing and Dr Richard Sim to give a brief talk on cancer-related diseases affecting the modern society today.

Dr Lee who has 25 years of clinical experience, is currently practising with Farrer Park Hospital, Singapore had trained in the United Kingdom and the United States.

On returning to Singapore, he had held senior clinical leadership appointments in the national cancer centres and is still involved actively in professional and academic bodies in the field of Radiation Oncology.

Dr Lee will be sharing on  advanced Radiation Therapy (RT) techniques, said to be an effective treatment for cancer especially when used in combination with surgery and chemotherapy.

Dr Ong Sea Hing

Dr Ong Sea Hing, a consultant cardiologist and physician will talk on cardiovascular disease.

His area of subspecialty is coronary artery angioplasty and stenting including complex coronary interventions.

He is also trained in structural heart interventions.

Dr Richard Sim, a general and colorectal surgeon with Farrer Park Hospital will be talking about colon cancer.

His areas of interest include minimally invasive endo-laparoscopic surgery and enhanced recovery protocols.

Dr Sim has made contributions to the Singapore’s Ministry of Health guidelines for the management of colon and rectal cancers and sits on the ministry’s Steering Committee for Colorectal Cancer Screening.

The admission to the talk is free, but those interested are urged to register early as limited seats are available.

A simple tea break will be provided with a lucky draw session.
