KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Ministry of Trade and Industry through the Department of Industrial Development and Research (JPPP) has provided a profile of facilities and economic development activities in every district in Sabah as a reference and to attract more foreign investors.

Its minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said the profile, among others, contained information relating to facilities that had been provided such as infrastructure, utilities as well as major economic activities of the population and the potential of resource development in the district.

“Besides submitting information on the district profile to investors for them to evaluate and further study the viability of the proposed project, investors are also taken to the respective districts to observe the status of the actual facilities already provided,” he told the Sabah State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday.

He was replying to Datuk Limus Jury (Upko-Kuala Penyu) who asked on the efforts being taken to bring more investors or industries to other districts in Sabah and the focus on Kota Kinabalu Industrian Park (KKIP).

Based on such a profile in the districts of  Papar, Beaufort and Kuala Penyu for example, he said several sources had been identified to have potentials to be developed, especially in the tourism industry such as  handicraft, local fruit processing, furniture factory and petroleum based products.

“This  information has helped the investors to conduct a detailed study to identify further the manufacturing  projects that are to be developed in those districts,” said Madius, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister. — Bernama
