UCSI University to hold road shows in Sarawak and Sabah

SIBU: UCSI University will be holding a series of road shows in Sarawak and Sabah at GES Global Education Group offices in Sibu, Kuching, Miri, Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan on July 13, 14, 15, 21 and 22 respectively from 1pm to 5pm.

In QS World University Rankings 2019, UCSI is ranked in the top 2 per cent of  universities in the world and is one of the six Malaysian universities to make the top 500.

UCSI was later ranked in the top 70 in the 2019 QS Top 100 under 50 that evaluates the world’s best young universities under 50 years. Its Institute of Music is ranked as top 100 worldwide for performing arts.

This road show will focus on its medical and pharmacy programmes.Interested students will be able to find out more about UCSI’s arrangement with Harvard University, University of Chicago, Melbourne University and the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, as well as enjoy scholarships or grants with waiver of up to 25 per cent off tuition fees.

Potential students and parents will gain insights on UCSI’s many programmes, the dynamic student life and its ties with more than 4,000 global companies.

Since 2014, UCSI’s top medical students have been selected annually for year-long research programmes at Harvard, working alongside the world’s best minds like Professor Dr Gordon Williams,equipping UCSI students with invaluable experience,and published research papers.

UCSI medical students has the option to earn the Bachelor of Medical Sciences as a second degree from the University of Melbourne if they spend a year of their five-year medical degree programme in Australia.

Medical students in UCSI Malaysia campus get live lectures conducted by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh regularly with the latest updates, technology and best practices.

Two of UCSI’s pharmacy students have been selected and are currentlyconducting research on how genes affect response to drugs in University of Chicago, ranked as the world’s ninth best university. Pharmacy students also enjoy numerous avenues to practise with the University’s tie-up with around 130 partners in community and industrial pharmacy, as well as four major hospitals.

The many milestones in medicine and pharmacy are matched by student and alumni achievements in other fields.

Kim Lim, Suzanne Ling and Lee Swee Lin, three UCSI alumni are some of Asia’s leading social entrepreneurs through The Picha Project, an initiative that empowers refugee families through food preparation, catering and delivery services.

Starting with zero capital, the three ladies have served more than 67,000 meals to leading local and international companies. To date, around RM700, 000 has been disbursed to 11 refugee families they partner with.

UCSI offers more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in medicine, pharmacy, engineering, business, biosciences, architecture, hospitality, liberal arts, IT, music and design, among other fields, with more than 10,000 students from over 110 nations, in its Kuala Lumpur campus.
