Big snakehead catch earns angler big win at KTS fishing contest

SIBU: Chin Fah Keong emerged the winner of the second-edition ‘Suzuki Fishing Competition’ in Kuala Rompin, Pahang recently.

The angler hauled in a Channa striata – a species of snakehead – which weighed 15.2kg.

The respective first and second runners-up Khoo Choong Song and Wong Sun Ping also caught the Channa striata species, which weighed 11.4kg and 8.4kg, respectively.

Khoo also placed fourth with his catch of queenfish, weighing 7.4kg.

At fifth and sixth place were Chong Man Sin and Chia Heng Leong. Four other competitors – Muhamad Saad Yaacob, Hew Swee Lian, Chia Heng Leong and Pow Eing Long – were given consolation prizes.

All participants received prizes, certificates, trophies and hampers.

The annual competition was run by KTS Trading Sdn Bhd,  the sole distributor of Suzuki Marine products in Malaysia in collaboration with its dealer Zakuan Lam Sdn Bhd.

The event involved 15 boats powered by Suzuki Outboard Motor, each with five anglers on board. According to the organiser, the fishing competition aimed to foster closer rapport between dealers and end users.

“Through such competition, it is evident that boat owners prefer Suzuki Outboard Motor, especially with its ‘Ultimate 4’ stroke engine featuring ‘Lean Burn Technology’ (fuel-saving) and low-noise emission.

“A discount voucher worth RM3,000 was also given to each participant for the purchase of Suzuki 4 stroke engine 115hp and above,” KTS Trading said in a statement.
