MIRI: The upgrading of drainage system at Lambir involving an allocation of RM10 million is expected to be implemented later this year or early next year.

According to Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, it will be implemented in three areas namely Taman Tunku, Sungai Rait and Tukau.

“We will divide this allocation according to the needs of the three areas to upgrade the drainage system, river cleaning and so on,” he said during an Aidilfitri open house at his residence yesterday.

Ripin added that the implementing agencies such as Miri City Council (MCC), Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) would meet to discuss the matter.

“We will discuss with all implementing agencies to identify problems that cause flash floods and efforts to solve them,” he said.

Ripin assured that the projects would be implemented as early as December or next January as the allocation of RM10 million has been approved.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had approved the RM10 million allocation during the Sejiwa Senada 2018 held at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Sibuti on May 1.
