KUCHING: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Amer Awal was given a grand sending off at the state police headquarters here yesterday following his retirement from the force.

Amer was initially due to retire on April 19 this year but had his service extended for three months because of the 14th general election. Following his retirement, Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim was appointed as the state’s police chief on an interim basis.

The handing-over-of-duties was carried out yesterday morning and witnessed by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.

Amer was appointed Sarawak Police Commissioner on July 17 last year.
