KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he has yet to receive an official offer to be the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
“If the offer is made to me, I will have to first discuss it with my colleagues in the Barisan Nasional and parties in the opposition bloc before making any decision,” he told reporters at Parliament’s lobby yesterday.
Ahmad Zahid is the MP for Bagan Datuk and president of Umno, the backbone of BN.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong said that so far he had only received Ahmad Zahid’s name for the PAC chairman post.
Liew said it was up to Ahmad Zahid whether he wants to accept the offer or not.
The new Pakatan Harapan government had pledged that the PAC chairman post would be given to an opposition MP. — Bernama
