KUCHING: Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi is confident the implementation of water supply projects in Sarawak could be completed within the stipulated time frame. He said all the projects have so far been on schedule.

“I am confident they will be completed by the end of 2021 for the convenience of the people especially those in rural areas constantly facing the water crisis,” he said during the Ministry of Utilities’ Excellence Award Night held at Waterfront Hotel here on Friday.

Dr Rundi admitted that his ministry had received  complaints from a few places in Sarawak, but this was not a reason for him not to perform his responsibility well.

He said they (complaints) were necessary so that they could find solutions to the problems.

“I am confident my ministry can overcome pressing issues with close cooperation of all the agencies involved,” he said.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Assistant Minister of Water Supply Datuk Liwan Lagang and Ministry of Utilities’ permanent secretary Dato Alice Jawan were among those present at the dinner.
