KUCHING: Sarawakians need to be wary of how certain politicians misuse the sentiments behind Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) to create a rift between East and West Malaysia.
“The sentiments of S4S has been misused and abused by a group of politicians with bad motive behind it – to segregated the west from the east, to plant hatred between Sarawakians and West Malaysians,” said Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei.
Speaking at the launch of the state-level ‘Kibar Jalur Gemilang’ Campaign 2018 at SK Lumba Kuda this morning, Wong pointed out that we are both Sarawakians and Malaysians.
“Malaysia is our country and Sarawak is part of Malaysia,” he said, adding that certain politicians like to say that Peninsular Malaysia is oppressing and suppressing Sarawak.
“Why? This is an agenda used to cover up corruption.”
Wong said that we should put a stop to this agenda, especially when the new government wants to promote unity.
“How to unite Malaysians? Provide good policies in terms of education, economy and governance. We need transparent governance. This is how we transform Malaysia into a better place to live.”
