Woman unhurt as car catches fire

Flames engulf the front portion of the woman’s vehicle.

LAWAS: A woman managed to avoid injury after her car burst into flames at a commercial centre here yesterday morning.

The 32-year-old had gone to a shoplot to buy groceries around 7.40am, and had just stepped out of her vehicle when flames appeared from under the bonnet.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lawas chief Zaki Husin said the woman immediately contacted the department for help, prompting the deployment of a team of firefighters to the scene.

“The victim did not suffer any injuries and only the engine and front portion of her vehicle was damaged,” he said.
