KUCHING: Department of Veterinary Services  (DVS) Sarawak is taking all the necessary preventive measures against the spread of bird flu from Sabah.

“Trucks entering Sarawak will be disinfected at the Merapok entry point,” DVS Sarawak director Dr Adrian Susin Ambud told The Borneo Post.

This was in response to the confirmation of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) in Sabah after a farm in the Tamparuli-Tuaran area was tested positive for the virus.

Earlier this week, State Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail confirmed that DVS Sarawak has imposed a ban on the import of chicken products from Sabah since Aug 1.
