LIMBANG: The government is committed to producing better human capital, comprising those who are excellent in skills, academics and personality.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said students should strive to excel in all areas so as to meet the government’s aspirations.

“We want to create a society that is brilliant in all areas in line with the government’s goal of producing skilled manpower of calibre, who will also be the future leaders of the nation,” he said at the closing of a ‘Jogathon Ria PIBG SMK Seri Patiambun’ (SMKSP) here yesterday.

The Bukit Kota assemblyman said various educational infrastructures have been set up to provide the people with the environment that is more conducive to learning and teaching.

At SMKSP, the long-awaited RM800,000 new hall that could accommodate 1,000 students is now ready for usage. It has a stage, badminton courts, dressing rooms and toilets.

The jogathon was held to raise funds for various student-oriented programmes as well as for repairing school facilities like the classroom tables and chairs, the gazebo, the waiting area for parents and a room for the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA).

Themed ‘Learn, Donate and Entertain’, the event also hosted various activities including singing, stage performances, sales of various items, exhibitions and tracing of SMKSP alumni.

Limbang District Education officer Dr Usang Ngrambang and SMKSP PTA chairman Imban Geruna were also present.
