SIPITANG: Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob has urged Sipitang member of parliament Yamani Hafez Musa to vacate his seat if he is not interested to serve the people in the area.

“Yamani Hafez was chosen by the people to serve them, but until today he has not turned up. He has to step down to make way for a by-election to elect a new leader,” Dr Yusof told Bernama after meeting his constituents at Kampung Long Pasia near here yesterday.

He said Yamani Hafez’s ‘absence’ proved that he was contesting just to get the position and not to serve and help the constituents in Sipitang.

“We know that he is from a well-to-do family and hardly step foot in the village. Maybe that’s why he does not feel the need to go down to the ground,” he said.

The former Sabah Umno Youth chief, who is also the son of former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, did not turn up for the swearing-in ceremony at Parliament in July.
