MIRI: A Spanish tourist was airlifted to Miri Hospital after she fell while trekking at Camp 5 of the Pinnacle Summit Trek at Mulu National Park yesterday.

The 58-year-old tourist was with a group of 13 trekkers when she slipped and broke her leg in the afternoon.

A statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said personnel from the department’s air unit were deployed to the location following a distress call at 2.50pm.

“The Bomba Air Unit departed Miri Airport to the scene to fetch the victim and transport her to Miri Hospital, arriving at 6.33pm,” said the statement.
