KUCHING: Members of Malay Traders and Entrepreneurs Association, Malaysia (Perdasama) are urged to support the government of the day in order to ensure that government policies, in relation to businesses can be implemented smoothly.

In making the call, Perdasama deputy president Dato Sohaimi Shahadan said association members need to look into how to improve their businesses and set aside differences in political ideologies.

“For Perdasama, members should focus on the association’s mission and objectives and we need to support the government of the day,” said Sohaimi.

He was speaking at the third annual general meeting of Sarawak Perdasama branch, at a hotel here on Sunday.

Sohaimi pointed that at this point, the association needs to make itself known to the Sarawak government and the public in general.

“Do the ground work and make our existence known to the state government. We need to play bigger role to ensure that the association’s mission and goals are achieved,” he added.

Sohaimi also reminded members of Perdasama to be alert to changes and lead the market by always being an industry player.

“At the same time, networking is a vital aspect. That should not be left out if you want to become a good business person,” he reminded.

The Sarawak Perdasama branch was formed in 2016 and now has 51 members statewide, while nationwide Perdasama has a membership of 16,707 and involved in all sorts of economic activities.

Despite being a Malay-based association, it has amended its constitution and has included Bumiputeras from Sarawak and Sabah as members.

Also present at the event was Perdasama Sarawak chief Mashan Ahmad Rais.
