Murder charge against man who slashed five-year-old son

PETALING JAYA: A man who allegedly slashed his five-year-old son to death while the boy was sleeping was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with murder, and faced the death sentence, upon conviction.

Unemployed Mohd Faih Rifin, 36, who used to be a member of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), was charged with murdering the boy, Muhammad Waiz Wazzini, at Flat Puchong Permai 1/6, Taman Puchong Permai, Puchong, Petaling,here between 2.30pm and 5.30pm last Aug 13.

The man, clad in violet lock-up uniform, and looked calm, nodded and said he understood after the charge was read out before Magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.

However, no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Nor Ariffin then set Oct 16 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Firdaous Mohamed Idris prosecuted, while Mohd Faih was unrepresented. — Bernama
