KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) faced various challenges during the first 100 days of administrating Sabah, said Chief MInister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said among issues which had to be addressed were financial problems and poor management in the government’s administrative system.

“In the 100 days, we tried our best to implement the party’s 13-thrust manifesto for the 14th general election (GE14). But we must realise that to fulfil all the promises, it will take some time because there were several constraints. Nevertheless I trust the new Cabinet lineup comprising old and new leaders … will be able to do something to liberate the state from the shackles of underdevelopment and so forth to enable us to compete at the regional level.”

He said this at a press conference in conjunction with the first 100 days of Warisan’s administration in Sabah here yesterday.

Elaborating, Mohd Shafie said although some of the promises have yet to be realised, it would definitely be implemented soon.

“We made those promises and we will keep to them but they require some time, such as building the Main Harbour in Kudat … to implement the project, we need to look at several aspects including the construction site. But several of the promises have been implemented within the 100 days including the restoration of autonomy rights, in particular relating to education and health, as well as claims of state’s rights,” he said.

He said in line with the effort, three new ministries were created namely the Ministry of Education and Innovation, the Ministry of Health and People’s Wellbeing and the Ministry of Law and Native Affairs.

“We established these ministries not to have overlapping of power with the federal government, but we want to improve administrative system in the state. This is important because Sabahans need education, provision of health services as well as proper administration of the law on matters pertaining to the affairs of the natives,” he said. — Bernama
