PUTRAJAYA: A deputy director-general with the title “Datuk” and six Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (PTD) from the Prime Minister’s Department are in remand for five days for allegedly misusing funds for the 14th general election (GE14).

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim issued the remand order, which expires on Sept 1, following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday.

All the seven suspects, aged between 34 and 49, arrived at the court clad in the orange MACC lockup T-shirt.

According to a MACC source, they were arrested by MACC between 11.30 am and 10 pm yesterday for investigation under Section 23 of the MACC Act for using office or position for gratification. — Bernama
