SERIAN: Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem claims that many voters now feel betrayed by the new federal government’s failure to deliver many of its 10 main promises in its first 100 days in office.

He pointed out that while Pakatan Harapan’s victory to capture Putrajaya in the last 14th General Election (GE14) is respected by all, many voters are unimpressed as promises stated in PH manifesto have not been delivered.

“By (Prime Minister) Tun Mahathir Mohamad’s own admission, the PH’s promise was never meant to be fulfilled. Unfortunately, too many Malaysians had fallen for the ruse in the run-up to GE14.

“The GE14 PH manifesto should be a lesson learnt, and Sarawakians must not fall for similar future promises,” he said at the launch of his new service centre here on Saturday.

He also called on the people to understand that in Sarawak, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is the government while PH is the opposition.

For this reason, he said the PH elected representatives do not see eye to eye with the state government over project proposals and policies. “If the people understand this situation, they will not get carried away by the rhetoric of the PH YBs (elected representatives),” he added.

Meanwhile, more than 300 friends and supporters, including about 50 community leaders, came for the launch of Riot’s new service centre at a building along Serian By-Pass road.

The former human resources minister, now into his seventh term as MP, looked very much his usual self, smiling and exchanging pleasantries as he went round to shake the hands of his guests.

Also present were local leaders of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and those from other components in GPS.
