KUCHING: Former director-general of the Protection Division in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Azman Yusof is the new Sarawak Police Commissioner.
In his speech, the newly-appointed top cop said the focus of the police remains the safety and security of the state.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to the force for entrusting me with the post of Sarawak Police Commissioner. Our focus is to ensure the security and safety of the state as well as the wellbeing of the people,” he said yesterday.
Earlier, Azman symbolically received his duties as commissioner from Deputy Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim, who had been acting commissioner following the retirement of Datuk Seri Amer Awal on July 19.
The handing-over-of-duties ceremony was witnessed by Integrity and Standards Compliance Department director Datuk Zamri Yahya at state police headquarters here.
