SEBUYAU: A local fisherman made the catch of his life when he netted a total of 101 ‘ikan panjang’ just off the coastline here yesterday.
Known only as Awang Madini, or Sunny to his friends, arrived at the jetty here with his haul and was filmed by Facebook user Wan Putra Wan Wahed.
“The young fisherman sold his entire catch for RM23,000,” Wan Putra disclosed to The Borneo Post when contacted.
In the video that he shot, Wan Putra was overheard refusing requests to do a ‘live’ Facebook feed for fear the jetty would be swarmed by villagers.
It is understood that ikan panjang can fetch up to RM35 per kilogramme.
