KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has not made a final decision to spread to Sarawak.

Its supreme council member Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said the party would first see the response from Sarawakians towards the party before making a final decision whether to spread to the state, or otherwise.

“The party will not set foot in the state in a haste, we will first study the response of the people (in Sarawak) towards the party and the political scenario.

“We do not want to come to Sarawak and becoming a disuniting factor for Sarawakians of various races, even if we come to Sarawak, we will work together with other political parties for the common good of the people in Sarawak and the country as a whole,” said Mohd Redzuan, who is Minister of Entrepreneur Development at a press conference today after a gathering with state PPBM promoters and members.

He pointed out that the promoters will be tasked to distribute membership forms to all the 31 state parliamentary constituencies for membership drive.

“We will see the response here and report to the Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also PPBM chairman,” he asserted.

Earlier, Mohd Redzuan and Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik paid a courtesy call to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mamud.

No party matters were discussed at the meetings.
