KUCHING: Sarawak shooting team’s hopes of gunning down gold in Sukma XIX suffered a setback after top shooter David Teo Siew Keng was forced to withdraw from the squad.

Team manager Neil Michael Parker said Teo was one of gold medal prospects for Sarawak and now they are banking on other shooters to bring home the gold.

Shooting competition will be held at Amanjaya Shooting

Sarawak will be participating in both the individual and team events namely 25m Standard Pistol, 25m Sports Pistol, 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Rifle, 50m Rifle Prone and 50m Rifle 3 Position.

Among the women’s seniors in the squad are Delphine Chung Qi, Stephanie Sim Shu Ming and Beatrice Thiedora, who won bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol team event in Sukma 2016.

Sarawak are also banking on on Lim Yee Qi, Siti Nur Aisyah Mazlan and Nur Firzanah Maisah in the women’s 50m rifle team event.

They also bagged bronze medal in Sukma 2016.

The shooters are expected to give stiff challenge in Perak and are determined to return home as among the best shooting athletes in Sukma.
