KGBS lauds Education Ministry’s commitment

SIBU: Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) is hoping that Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik will give priority to repair dilapidated schools and upgrade education infrastructure in Sarawak.

Its president Ahmad Malie said yesterday this is important to narrow the gap between Sarawak’s education development and the Peninsula.

He was commenting on the Education Ministry’s press statement with Maszlee stating the ministry’s commitment to maintain and repair dilapidated schools within the next five years.

Maszlee Malik was on a two-day working visit to Kuching to see the condition of a few schools in Samarahan and Simunjan areas.

“KGBS lauds Dr Maszlee’s intention to tackle dilapidated schools in Sarawak,” Ahmad said.

Meanwhile, it was reported that there are 1,020 dilapidated schools across Sarawak.
