Youth pleads not guilty to intimidating girlfriend

MIRI: The magistrates’ court here yesterday released a man on RM4,500 bail with two local sureties after he pleaded not guilty to intimidating, hurting and committing mischief on his girlfriend.

The court sets Oct 11 for case management. Mohamad Syukri Abdullah, 22, from Tudan here was charged with intimidating his girlfriend Diana Hii Miew Yion, 22 by threatening to kill her, an offence under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term up to seven years or fine or both upon conviction.

He was also charged with voluntarily causing hurt as well as committing mischief on the same woman. The accused allegedly committed all the offences at 7.30am on Sept 3 at a rented room at Taman Merbau here.

Insp Mohd Khairi Mohd Noor prosecuted the case in front of Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa while the accused was not represented.
