KUCHING: South Korea’s largest fried chicken chain NeNe Chicken opened its first outlet in East Malaysia at Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall here yesterday.
Aside from offering its take on Korean fried chicken featuring a special blend of marinade, batter and signature sauces to the delight of its customers, NeNe Chicken also has its own version of Crispy Chicken Rendang and Nasi Lemak Crispy Chicken.
“Since the opening of our doors in our soft launch, we are amazed with the reception that has been given and we are putting in the hard work to keep the momentum going,” NeNe Chicken Malaysia managing director Raymond Wong said in his welcoming speech.
Wong added that the newest outlet is their fourth in Malaysia.
NeNe Chicken Sarawak statemaster Sii Ee Ling meanwhile said she hoped Sarawakians will continue to give their support to the brand, which has expanded to Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore apart from Malaysia.
Plaza Merdeka was chosen as the location for the new outlet as it is an urban hub catering to various requirements such as retail, entertainment and dining, she added.
Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali officiated at the opening ceremony yesterday.
Established in South Korea in 1999, NeNe Chicken has grown to over 1,200 restaurants. The words ‘Ne Ne’ means ‘Yes! Yes!’ in Korean.
