Bomba personnel seen with members of the public after extricating the victim’s body from her vehicle.
SARATOK: A woman driver died after her vehicle plunged into a deep drain along the Pan Borneo Highway site at KM92 Betong-Sarikei Road on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Suni Jilan, 42, of Rumah Kunchi Bratong Baroh in Roban.
The incident is said to have happened near SK Berayang around 8.20pm when the victim was travelling alone in a four-wheel-drive vehicle towards Saratok.
Her vehicle is believed to have skidded off the road and plunged down the drain where a culvert was being built.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Saratok chief Nazry Mohamat said his personnel arrived at the scene to discover the victim pinned to her seat.
Following her extrication, medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene, he added.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
