SHAH ALAM: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has been ranked among the world’s top 500 higher education institutions in the third edition of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2019, which was released on Tuesday.
UiTM Vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Hassan Said said the university had maintained its position as among the 301 to 500 world’s top tertiary institutions.
He said UiTM was ranked fourth among the local universities with most employable graduates.
“The new data release demonstrates UiTM’s commitment to producing high-quality and employable graduates,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Other local universities that were also featured on the list were Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia and UCSI University, all of which were ranked in the 301 to 500 band.
Universiti Malaya and Taylor’s University were placed in the 161-170 and 201 to 250 level respectively.
Hassan said, in the aspect of industrial training engagement for students and job placement for graduates in companies in Malaysia, UiTM managed to achieve the ratio of 61:9 compared to the national rate of 43:3. — Bernama
