MIRI: Efforts to promote and enhance awareness on the proper and effective use of social media and the Internet should be improved to ensure that it can benefit the users.
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said there are still some consumers in the interior of Telang Usan who are not using the technology properly.
“The proper and accurate use of social media will benefit and give positive impact to the people. Hence I want this awareness to be expanded to the upstream areas of Telang Usan.
“This includes holding a briefing for the public and students whether they are staying in Miri or in Telang Usan,” he said after a briefing session by Peliau Bungai’s Internet Centre (PI) at Telang Usan Community Service Centre at Luak, near here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Dennis also praised PI Peliau Bungai for playing an active role in promoting the use of the Internet and hoped it can share its knowledge and experience with other users in Telang Usan.
He said the inaugural briefing would help the Orang Ulu community in general and the Telang Usan community in particular on the proper use of the internet and also computer skills.
“After the session, we hope there will be other programmes planned in the future,” he said.
