KUCHING: The Sarawak Immigration Department rounded up 113 illegal immigrants in a special operation dubbed ‘Op Mega 3.0’ at a construction site in Bintawa here on Saturday.
In a statement yesterday, the department said in the operation which began at 11.20am, 451 individuals were screened and 113 of them were nabbed for various immigration-related offences.
All the detainees were sent to the Semuja Detention Depot for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in George Town, 35 illegal immigrants of various naitionalities including 11 women were picked up under the Op Mega 3.0 conducted around Jelutong, Tanjung Tokong and George Town yesterday.
A spokesperson from the Penang Immigration Department said all of them, aged between 27 and 40 comprised 15 Thai nationals, nine Bangladeshis, four Syrians and seven Indonesians.
They were sent to the Juru Detention Depot. — Bernama
