Mydin Petra Jaya hosts final round of Sarawak Bintang Patriotik singing competition

The final-round contestants on stage prior to the start of the event at Mydin Petra Jaya yesterday.

KUCHING: A total of eight finalists took to the stage for the final round of the Sarawak Bintang Patriotik singing competition at Mydin Petra Jaya hypermarket here yesterday.

The eight were selected from an initial 30 singers who took part in the preliminary round held on Sept 14 and 15. The competition was held in conjunction with the MyMerdeka Sayangi Malaysiaku programme, and organised by the Information Department and the private sector across the country. Those taking part in the competiton must not have recorded any music albums, and are required to sing two songs – a compulsory patriotic song and another of their own choice.

“The winner will receive a Mydin voucher worth RM500, while second and third-placed winners will get a voucher worth RM350 and RM200, respectively. The remaining five finalists will each receive a voucher worth RM100,” said a competition official.

The competition was still ongoing as of 6.30pm yesterday, with the winners to be announced later in the evening.
