MIRI: Some 200 Desa Pujut Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) members and their families held a Malaysia Day celebration on Sunday together with the Department of National Unity and Integration and Miri Y15ZR Motor Club.

In a press release, Desa Pujut KRT chairman Osman Ahmad said Malaysia Day needs to be appreciated by the younger generation as it is an important milestone.

“The formation of Malaysia would not have been possible if we were in an unsafe situation and today we are grateful to be in Malaysia, where all people from various religious backgrounds live in harmony under one roof,” he said.

Osman said Desa Pujut KRT supports and works closely with government agencies and non-governmental organisations to promote activities that bring people together positively.

“This is a collaborative initiative that could help to combat crime and other immoral activities among the people, who clearly need help and attention.

“Such activities need sincerity and time, and despite having a commitment to the family, the sacrifices will pay off with the positive change within the community,” he said.
