55 road lighting units to be installed near Taman Tunku – Lukanisman

Lukanisman (seated centre) holds the proposed plan for the installation of street lights at Taman Tunku main road after a meeting with Miri City Council (MCC) yesterday.

MIRI: Fifty-five street lights will be installed along the 5.5 km stretch of Taman Tunku here, says Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni yesterday

The double-pole street light installation project costing RM300,000 and funded through the Sibuti parliamentary Rural Transformation Project (RTP) allocation is part of the Sarawak government’s initiatives to solve problems faced by the local people.

“The work will start as soon as the documentations are done and as an MP, I have to listen to the people and find the best solution to their problems and this street light issue has been frequently posted in Facebook. I welcome any suggestions on issues that need to be resolved.

“This street light project will improve the safety of road users in the area and is part of my efforts and vision as the MP to make Taman Tunku a safe and comfortable neighbourhood,” he told The Borneo Post.

Lukanisman said the street light issue at the particular road was brought up by road users in social media since it was completed a few years ago and he has identified some other areas that require street lights around Taman Tunku, Lusut and Kpg Tunku Abdul Rahman where they will be implemented in phases.

“The Sarawak government through its RTP projects will continue to help develop Sibuti parliamentary area and I thank Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving the allocation,” he said.
