40,580 pupils sit for UPSR across Sarawak

KUCHING: A total of 40,580 candidates from 1,284 examination centres throughout Sarawak are currently sitting for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) public examination.

Of this, 30,651 candidates from national schools sat for their first paper yesterday.

Their counterparts in Chinese medium schools, numbering 9,929, already had their written and comprehension papers for Chinese Language last Thursday.

All UPSR candidates sat for the Bahasa Melayu comprehension and written papers yesterday.

Parents line the hallway to wish their children good luck as the UPSR candidates make their way to the examination hall.

UPSR’s last papers – Science Paper 1 and Paper 2 – will be this coming Thursday.

Meanwhile, at SK St Mary here where 91 candidates are sitting for UPSR, the pupils were spotted doing final revision before entering the examination hall.

There were also prayer sessions held with teachers, parents and custodians. The parents and custodians were also seen hugging and giving some final words of motivation to the pupils prior to the start of the examination.
